Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to take a surprise lead. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
